Hello, so nice to meet you!

I’m Sydney, your Calgary Alberta photographer! I specialize in entertainment, branding, and lifestyle photography. If you can’t find me with my lovely clients, you’ll surely be able to find me photographing somewhere in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I am a proud dog mom of my four-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, who doubles as my fluffy assistant and professional photo bomber!

I’ve had a camera wrapped around my neck since I was a little girl, knowing I’d someday have to turn this passion into a career. Photography has, ever since, captivated me by the power that photos can have. Being able to tell stories, document connections, and seize genuine emotions gives me the ability to showcase in a light and airy style the authentic and joyful moments between all my clients. (I’m known for my candid style, *wink wink*).

This year, I’m celebrating a decade of being in my successful business, and I can’t wait to spend the next ten years capturing more incredible moments with new and returning clients. 

In 2012, I started Sydney Butters Photography in my hometown of Ottawa Ontario, after earning my degree in Photography from Algonquin College, where I trained in marketing, branding, networking, print, graphic production, and retouching. From there, I started working in the music and entertainment industry.

Both music and entertainment have given me the opportunity to capture the raw emotions of artists and fans, along with getting to document behind the scenes and media advertising. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Blake Shelton, Chelsey Handler, Old 

Dominion, David Spade, Billy Ray Cyrus, X Ambassadors, Eric Church, Iggy Azalea, Shania Twain, and many more!

As your local photographer, I want to give you love, amazement, relief, happiness, inspiration, creativity, beauty, and emotion all captured in images for you to hold tightly onto for the years to come.

Photography is truly the most rewarding career, I believe, because I get to experience the interactions between us strangers becoming friends and learning and exchanging stories with each of you. There is no limit to creativity in my field, so I see everything around me as a work of art, and capturing that in a still moment that will last forever is an inspiration to focus on the present. Photos help bring the deserved attention to the little moments that often are overlooked––moments that I want to photograph just for you, my friend.
